Tar Creek Superfund

TAR CREEK SUPERFUND SITE, EAGLE PITCHER, OK, USA

The team remediated lead and zinc-contaminated soil from mine operations, including filling/plugging 20 mine shafts. The scope included site clearance and regrading and redistributing more than 5,000 cubic yards of chat piles to proper grading. The team installed a 12-inch clay cap, placed topsoil, and performed background and perimeter air monitoring to ensure safety and health. During construction, the team performed ecosystem restoration activities, which included dredging, removing sediment and excess vegetation, and rip-rap stabilization. The site was then restored with native grass.
