From 2013 to 2019, the team performed five consecutive projects under the Goose Bay Remediation Project, which serves as one of the largest environmental clean-ups undertaken by the Department of National Defence. This multi-year project involved the remediation of approximately 650,000 metric tonnes of petroleum hydrocarbon-contaminated soil and liquid petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil via ex-situ methods from several former tank farm sites at 5 Wing Goose Bay. Techniques used for remediation were primarily ex-situ bioremediation, with contingency applications such as ex-situ chemical oxidation both as a batch process and a continuous method via a process plant. This project is located in a remote northern location and the multi-year program was successfully completed on schedule, with most of the impacted soil treated and re-instated at the sites.
